Anglet Hormadi welcomes the Rouen Dragons with a spirit of revenge
It is with a feeling of injustice mixed with that of revenge that Anglet Hormadi Pays Basque will host Rouen Hockey Élite 76 on Sunday February 13, during the 27th day of the Magnus League (game late). Since November 30, 2021, the two clubs have been facing each other before the championship authorities because of a disputed but. The League agreed with Rouen, but Hormadi does not intend to stop there.
The litigation
On Tuesday 30 November, Anglet leads 2-1 against Rouen at the Patinoire de la Barre: the Dragons score the equalizer. No but refused by the referees car out of regulation time. No extension therefore and Anglet won three precious points, against one of the best teams of the season.
“It was only on December 10, 2021, 10 days after this match, that Hormadi learned that the Rouen club had lodged a complaint”, indicates the English club. The Normans contest the but refused at the final bell.
At the end of December, the office of the French Ice Hockey Federation (FFHG) asks both teams to play overtime. The Hormadi refuses.
A Federal Appeal Commission will be held on February 2, 2022. The FFHG finally agrees with Rouen and recognizes a “technical arbitration error”. She asks to play the entire match against Rouen and withdraws to Hormadi the three points acquired during the disputed match.
The date of the match to be replayed is not yet known.
“We were robbed of three points” – Alex and Sylvain, Hormadi supporters
The cold anger of the management of the Anglet club and its supporters has been palpable for a week. “Anglet Hormadi Pays Basque takes note of this decision, regretting the totally unsportsmanlike attitude of the Rouen club on this affair”announces the management of the Basque club in a statement, recalling in passing that she was kind enough to shift her confrontations against Rouen to allow the Normans to play the European Cup serenely. Anglet will continue to “to assert his rights before the competent courts”.
In the meantime, we have to face Rouen this Sunday. “On a big revenge to take, look at David Dostal, Hormadi’s coach. There are 21 players waiting for this team from Rouen. They’re not going to let them play, they’re going to hurt them, they’re going to go on the ice to put on the best performance possible.”
Among fervent Hormadi supporters, the pre-match speech is more direct. “It’s a real scandal to make us play the match. It’s a lack of respect for the institution of Hormadi, estimate Alex and Sylvain, who assure that their team preferred “clearly and properly won” the November 30 game.
“It’s very small of Rouen to play a match like that, to complain, proclaim these two supporters. We had to win it on D-Day. They didn’t win it and they are forcing us to play it again. But it doesn’t matter, we’ll beat them!” Especially since three points won against such a big team, it’s a rare event in the Basque country. “That’s why it’s hard to digest.”
Anglet-Rouen, kick-off at 7 p.m. of a match that promises to be lively on the ice and in the stands.
