Where to go at the weekend around Prague? Maybe in the footsteps of Mike’s cat
The sun has shone and the thermometer is quite tempting for walks – so why sit at home? Such a stimulus is currently brought by the Central Bohemian Regional Authority, when it offers a trip outside Prague on social networks: to Hrusice and its surroundings. To Lad region; in Říčany and Munich.

“Take a walk through the places where Mikeš ran away after his grandmother broke a mug of cream,” the region refers on Twitter to a well-known cat story by illustrator and writer Josef Lada and to a map prepared for him by the Ladův kraj association, which is dedicated to promotion, support for tourism and culture. By the way – if you don’t remember exactly from the book, the mentioned cream accident happened when Grandma Ševcovic baked pancakes and helping Mikeš carried her a mug from the cellar, but lost on the footbridge above the ditch he lost; for the damage done, the style is so much that he decided to run away and not return before he earns enough money in the world to buy a new slicer…
Valentine’s romance does not end with dinner. You can go much further
Mikeš’s journey, which represents places where a cat walks in pairs as a human, even wears shoes, and in addition, still speaking human language experiences its adventures, offers a total of 12 stops with boards bringing quotes from the book and pictures. The individual sections can be explored in short walks, but the whole will also allow for a longer hike: the route measures a total of 20 kilometers. It is suitable for hiking and for cyclists – and if, for example, younger participants in the expedition would have their legs sore, which is a situation that families know well with children from trips, a bus or train will help.

On Facebook, where the regional authority recommends this trip to parents and grandparents, for example, just for a trip this weekend, they confirmed: larger offspring could manage the entire route from Hrusice to Říčany. It is said to be an experience for older companions as well: it will allow them to remember the stories of their childhood.
