Statement before SK Rapid vs. FC Red Bull Salzburg game: When “Red Bull” speaks of “mess” – Bundesliga
Central defender Maximilian Wöber from the Austrian series champion FC Red Bull Salzburg went on the offensive and “wore his heart on his sleeve” at “SKY” when the native of Vienna commented on the behavior of FC Barcelona ex-Barca loanee Yusuf Demir von Rapid Vienna spoke.
The ÖFB team defender and Wöber, who was trained at Rapid Wien, was a Spain legionnaire himself and switched from FC Sevilla to FC Red Bull Salzburg in August 2019, said: “As a footballer, I find what I heard in the media to be Dirty what they did with the young lad so you wouldn’t let him play just so you wouldn’t have to buy.”
The Viennese continues: “It’s about an 18-year-old footballer with insane potential.” Postscript with emphasis and incomprehension: “That he was given a choice, either you go back or sit in the stands for six months.”
Zoran Barisic pays respects to his former pupil
Rapids sports director Zoran Barisic paid tribute to the ex-Rapidler’s statements – also at SKY: “Huge respect for Maxi Wöber, as he said. He’s still a young man too. Maxi made his debut with me for Rapid when I was still a coach. You can also roughly imagine what I think of him.” And adds with a wink: “That’s his opinion, which isn’t that bad.”
Regarding his own opinion on how “Barca” dealt with Demir, Barisic kept a low profile and said it was private. The 18-year-old Rapid raw diamond returned to Hütteldorf in the winter after his loan to the four-time Champions League winner (plus one previous European Cup) and completed six games in “La Liga” and three in the Champions League for the glorious club in the autumn from Catalonia.
