Swan Hellenic’s SH Vega floated at the Helsinki shipyard
It is the second of Swan Hellenic’s three next-generation research vessels and a duplicate of SH Minerva launched last year.
“We are again satisfied with the quality of Helsinki’s work,” said Andrea Zito, CEO of Swan Hellenic. “Despite Pandmia’s ongoing challenges, everyone at the yard has adhered to an ambitious schedule to the highest standards. It’s great to see our vision combine so well.
Helsinki Shipyard’s CEO Simo Rastas added: “We are very proud of our contribution to everything he does. [SH Vega] represent.’
The vessel is scheduled to start operating in May.
Steelwork production for the third slightly larger vessel in the line, temporarily named Vega 3, started last summer. Ordered from Helsinki, 50% of the blocks are currently in the yard. It is scheduled for delivery in early 2023.
The voyage of the Virgin
SH Vega will be delivered to Swan Hellenic in May 2022. It will begin its 11-day virgin cruise on May 29, sailing from Leith, Edinburgh to the Faroe Islands and Iceland, docking in Reykjavík on 8 June.
