Mia Skadhauge Stevn (22) has been missing since Sunday morning. Police on Thursday found remains that they believe are Mia. Two men are charged in the case.
VG updates the case
– We have been massively investigating all day around the accused’s residence and their journey. It has thrown several tracks and we have followed them. We have searched at Reno Nord and several places in Dronninglund large forest. This has led to us recently finding parts of a human being, says head of investigation Frank Olsen during a press conference on Thursday evening.
22-year-old Mia Skadhauge Stevn disappeared on Sunday night after a trip to the city of Aalborg in North Jutland in Denmark.
She must have picked up in a black car as after six o’clock Sunday morning. It writes Danish TV2.
Police are now working to identify the remains, but they say they have reason to believe it was about missing Mia.
Police officially reported her missing Monday, and called for a dark passenger car. Two 36-year-old men were arrested on Wednesday when police found the wanted car at one of the men’s addresses. They met on Thursday in a constitutional hearing, which in Norway is equivalent to a prison meeting.
Denies criminal guilt
The 36-year-old men are charged in the case for premeditated murder. One man was jailed for four weeks while the other was released. The released man is still charged with murder.
The men have denied criminal guilt. According to police, there is nothing to indicate that the accused knew the missing woman.
Olsen said during a press conference that the discovery of remains does not change anything about the release of the 36-year-old men.
The Danish newspaper BT spoke to the 36-year-old after he was released.
– I do not have much to say. I’m sorry and shaken. It’s been some tough days, he told the newspaper.
– Now I will wait for what the police say. Otherwise I have nothing to say.
Police cordoned off a forest area at Dronningslund on Thursday morning to conduct investigations. The area is one of several places the police searched on Thursday in connection with the missing 22-year-old.
– We continue to work in Dronninglund Storskog. We’ll be doing that all evening and night. We have blocked off the entire forest, Olsen said during a press conference.
