Against the vaccination pass, “freedom convoys” leave from Savoie and Haute-Savoie to Paris
On social networks, they announce that they want “ride in paris“. Thousands of anti-vaccination pass demonstrators want to follow the movement launched in Canada in mid-January by truckers, against compulsory vaccination. Convoys leave from all over France to reach Paris this Saturday, February 12, then Brussels.
In Savoie and Haute-Savoie, three departures are announced, this Saturday at 4 a.m. : Chambery (Chamnord crossroads), Annecy (Crossroads) and Annemasse (Super U of Good). For Florian, one of the organizers of the convoys in the Rhône Alpes, the mobilization is much broader than the usual Saturday demonstrations. “I have a lot of people who have never set foot in a protest contacting me.”
We are far from the yellow vests demonstration with regulars or even trade unionists. There is everything there, grandparents, even minors. It’s all mixed up, we’re not used to seeing that.
“We will be between 40 and 50 cars minimum in Savoie and Haute-Savoie.“
In Annecy, a first gathering is taking place this Friday evening at the Pâquier in Annecy, to allow provisions and blankets to be brought. Déborah organizes this convoy:
The goal is not to block the road but above all to convey a message. The health crisis is not the only claim, there is also the rise in fuel prices, the fed up of nursing staff…
“People are ready to demonstrate and express this fed up“, she adds. After Paris, the objective is to go towards a “European convergence in Brussels” on February 14according to the leaflet distributed on social networks.
