Will the IMF give Tunisia a nice gift on Valentine’s Day?

According to official sources, a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will carry out a “Staff Visit” mission from February 14 to 22, 2022.
This visit; which will take place remotely due to preventive measures against the pandemic; Will be an opportunity to promote discussions on the economic reforms proposed by the Tunisian authorities as part of the new reform program.
Reassuring messages from Tunisian officials; Marouane El Abassi, Governor of the BCT and Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia, Minister of Finance, in particular; bode well for a positive outcome of talks with the IMF.
However, the deal is not concluded without a solid commitment from the social partners. Also, at this level, Najla Bouden seems to have the Baraka: the UGTT, by the presence of its SG, Noureddine Taboubi, at the Kasbah and the quality of the proposals of its economists help to settle the situation. Ditto for UTICA which distinguished itself by a positive and constructive reaction.
Remains that the IMF, for its part, could understand the internal stakes of Tunisia? Until then, if his Council has been quite lenient with Tunisia, the wishes expressed; although legitimate; would benefit from being relaxed and this, in the light of the situation of a country which is confronting its deepest demons!
In this regard, the quality of the discussions between the Tunisian authorities and the economists of the IMF, but also those of the World Bank, seem to be reassuring. A convergence of ideas and positions is a reassuring pledge both for Tunisians and for international donors and financiers.
So, will the IMF deign to offer Tunisia a nice gift for Valentine’s Day?
