Nardella, ready to nominate Florence book capital 2023 – Books

(ANSA) – FLORENCE, 09 FEB – “We are preparing to nominate Florence as the Italian capital of books for 2023”. This was said by the mayor of Florence Dario Nardella on the occasion of the presentation of the first edition of Testo, the publishing fair, organized by Stazione Leopolda and Pitti Immagine in Florence, from 25 to 27 February. The event, conceived by Todo Modo, has the patronage and collaboration of the Municipality of Florence and the Tuscany Region. Nardella explained that the “support of the city of Florence for the event is total”.

The event unites the world of publishers – 70 publishing houses present – and fans. The most awaited guest will be Eshkol Nevo, author of the novel ‘The symmetry of desires’ and ‘Three floors’. Among the interventions also those of the New Yorker originally from Addis Ababa Maaza Mengiste, of the Dutch writer and traveler Jan Brokken, of the Marseille writer Régis Jauffret and of the Mexican colleague Gadalupe Nettel. At the Leopolda the life cycle of the book is recreated through a path in seven stations. Each station – Manuscript, Impact, Translation, Sign, Tale, Library, Reader – presents a phase in the life of the book: from the work of the writer, to that of the editors, translators, graphic designers, promoters and booksellers, up to to the reader. The presentation, meetings and events program was developed by a team of curators, who play the role of ‘Stationmaster’, such as Luca Briasco, editor of foreign fiction. It is, explained the sole administrator of Stazione Leopolda and general manager of Pitti Immagine Agostino Poletto, “a journey through books and biodiversity with special attention to the community dimension of publishing, the actors, the professionals, and the knowledge that make up editorial ecology “. For the president of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani “the first edition is very important for Florence and Tuscany, we have the ambition to host such an appointment every year”. (HANDLE).
