Unemployment in Central Bohemia is over 3 percent, but has fallen in Prague
Being out of work is not for long
The mostly modest rise in the unemployment rate is not a surprise to analysts. This was confirmed to the daily by Jacek Kowalak, who heads the personnel agency Randstad CR. “The first reason is the decline in demand for seasonal workers, especially in shops and warehouses, which are no longer so busy after the December onslaught. In addition, a number of employment contracts end at the end of the year, which do not always have to be extended, ”he explained, which is typical and repeats a certain amount every year. For those who are out of work, however, Kowalak has a fairly favorable message: people who have been affected by the change usually have no cause for concern.
“The demand from companies is huge, so finding a new job is usually possible in a very short time,” he said. This corresponds to the experience of labor offices that are in contact with specific job seekers. It is not typical for a group of new people to join the originally registered unemployed people from the previous month. As for specific people, most of them usually change from month to month.

Vacancies were registered by labor offices in Central Bohemia at the end of January 64,801; 2.36 thousand more than at the end of last year. Compared to December, they increased in almost all Central Bohemian districts – with the statement of Kladno, where the number did not change, and Nymburk, where the offer even decreased. At the same time, the relatively widespread notion that only a position with this dirty physically strenuous, and perhaps even at the same time, can be found in the offer of a “worker” does not apply. There are also jobs with high demands on qualifications, which corresponds to the remuneration offered. But this is not an overview of all the places that are currently offered in the region. Employers do not have the obligation to report all positions they want to fill.
Even so, in pure language, there could be 2.39 jobs offered per unemployed person. At least nationwide; in Prague-East, there are even over ten of them per candidate. It is here that they have problems occupying places; sometimes it also leads to a photo rejecting the contract. However, it is a region within an exceptional region, with 16,042 places on offer; all other districts, with the excuse of Mladá Boleslav (10,207), have an offer in the thousands. Higher numbers of vacancies exceeding five thousand are also reported by Mělnicko and Praha-západ; Příbramsko is also approaching – and in fact Berounsko. The most populous in Kladno (4.77 thousand), Příbram (3.08) and Mělnicko (3.01) stand out in terms of the number of unemployed.
Big differences across the region
Prague-East has a long-term record low unemployment rate in the region, which will fall slightly further: 1.23 percent. The districts of Prague-West (1.73) and Benešov (1.83) also fell below two percent; under three then Mladá Boleslav (2.22). At the opposite pole are the districts of Kladno (4.50 percent), Mělník (4.28) and Příbram (4.25); Nymburk (4.12) still reaches over four percent – and Kolín (3.87) is not far from them either.
