The Romanian Parliament sends a delegation to the Republic of Moldova
The Romanian Parliament sends a delegation to the Republic of Moldova, between February 9 and 11, 2022.
The delegation consists of members of the Legal Commission of the Romanian Senate. The delegation also includes one of the vice-presidents of the Senate, Robert Cazanciuc (PSD).
The delegation from Bucharest will have a meeting with the President of the Parliament from Chisinau, Igor Grosu.
In addition to the working visit of the Romanian senators, there will be a joint meeting of the Legal Committees of the two Parliaments. The joint meeting will take place on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
The meeting of the parliamentarians takes place in the context in which the governments of Bucharest and Chisinau will have a joint meeting. The joint meeting will be held in Chisinau on Friday. Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca will travel to the Republic of Moldova for this purpose.

The actions of parliamentarians and ministers in the two countries are taking place in the context of tensions in Ukraine. Romania has a land border with Ukraine, which is the eastern border of NATO and the EU. In turn, the Republic of Moldova is an enclave between Romania and Ukraine.
The Republic of Moldova has long-held hopes of becoming a member of the EU. However, the Republic of Moldova does not intend to join NATO and maintain neutrality. This view on NATO was expressed even by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
