Opens new direct routes to North America with a new aircraft
SAS is opening routes to Toronto and expanding with the North American network, the airline announced on Tuesday.
Flights to the Canadian city will depart from Copenhagen and Stockholm, with the new Airbus A321LR aircraft. Start-up will be in June, if SAS obtains the necessary regulatory approvals.
On the Copenhagen – Toronto route, there will be three weekly flights, while there will be four flights a week between Stockholm and Toronto.
The route launch comes a day after SAS announced a decline in the number of passengers in January.
New step in North America
“We are pleased to announce direct flights from Scandinavia to Toronto, and thus the next step in strengthening our network in North America,” said Commercial Director Karl Sandlund of SAS in a comment.
«The new SAS routes will make it easy and convenient to travel between Scandinavia and Canada. The planes take off in the middle of the day from Scandinavia and in the afternoon from Toronto. It facilitates good connections at both ends to other destinations “, he adds.
With the new Toronto routes, SAS will have a total of seven North American destinations in its summer program. The other six are Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Washington DC
22 Business Seats
On board the A321LR aircraft, SAS will offer 157 benefits in three classes, of which SAS Business will comprise 22 and SAS Plus 12 seats.
According to the airline, the seats on board must be specially selected for optimal comfort – for all travel classes.
The aircraft model is undergoing SAS’s fleet renewal, and will contribute to the company’s emission cuts.
According to Check-in.dk, SAS had its first flight with this model on Monday 20 December, between Oslo and Copenhagen, after the aircraft’s debut in a SAS suit had been exposed several times.
