Hannover Indians shorten to Leipzig
Reading time: approx. 1 minute
It was a bitter defeat for Essen, as they were unable to make up for the three-point deficit in the Oberliga Nord on Herford. The Indians ended a small series of defeats with three bankruptcies in a row and managed to catch up with Leipzig, but have so far completed four more games than the Saxons.
Mosquitoes Essen – Hanover Indians 1: 5 (1: 1, 0: 2, 0: 2)
For a whole third, the Mosquitoes were allowed to dream of another success against the Indians. After all, Dominik Luft had shot his colors into the lead, but the Indians, who acted surprisingly strong in numbers, even had a success rate of 50 percent, despite a clear superiority in the first third, just such a number game to equalize. After Robin Palka quickly made it 2-1 in the second period, the Indians continued to dominate the game and Jayden Schubert’s 3-1, even with a majority, reflected this superiority insufficiently. When Maximilian Pohl made it 4-1 in the 44th minute with the Indians’ seventh shorthander of the season, the game was over. Sebastian Christmann, who now has 15 points and now ranks 139th in the scorer list, ensured the end point in a final third, in which the guests allowed the hosts to play along. Essen didn’t have a standout player, but there was a second row who ended their plus-minus statistic at -10. With the Indians Robin Palka, Joe Kiss, Tobias Möller and Kyle Gibbons with two points each.
