Customs officers found 19 liters of liquid cocaine in the bottles.
– We maintain a sharp focus on drug smuggling among travelers, and we unfortunately see from time to time that travelers try to smuggle cocaine in via the airports. In this case, we found 19 liters of liquid cocaine hidden in wine bottles, says Michael Lund, who is director of control in the Danish customs, in a press release.
The Danish customs service has now handed over the case to the police in Copenhagen, who are now responsible for further investigation of the case.
– Our customs officers are trained to inquire about travel patterns and luggage. When there is something in the explanation that arouses suspicion, then we can choose to use additional control in the form of our scanner system and our customs dogs, says the director.
In 2020, the Danish customs seized 22 kilos of cocaine, 38 kilos of amphetamine and as much as 394 kilos of hashish, according to Extra Bladet.
