Copenhagen: – The customs sounded the full alarm
On Friday, the customs officers at Copenhagen Airport made a huge seizure during a random sample.
An X-ray examination of the suitcase of one of the travelers contained, according to the Danish newspaper BT as many as 13 wine bottles.
The bottles did not contain exactly wine, as the passenger claimed, but cocaine.
The passenger, who is a 25-year-old man from Malaysia, was apprehended on the spot.
On Saturday, it was decided that he will be remanded in custody until 16 February.
Sharp focus
Investigation leader Knud Hvass says this to the Danish news agency Ritzau:
– It is not so often that we see cocaine being smuggled in this way, but we have experienced it a few times.
Director of Control Michael Lund in Denmark’s response to the Customs, the Danish Customs, says that they have a strong focus on smuggling.
“Unfortunately, we see that travelers regularly try to smuggle cocaine in via the airports,” he says.

Big catch
According to BT, the Danish Customs still comes across drugs in both fast and liquid form among travelers, in containers at port areas and in packages at the post offices.
In 2020 alone, they seized 22 kilos of cocaine, 38 kilos of amphetamine and no less than 394 kilos of cannabis in Denmark.
