Coldiretti Siena against Nutriscore: “Black stamp on wine attack by the EU on the territory and on exports”
Coldiretti Siena reiterates its absolute and total opposition to the proposal of one of the creators of the Nutriscore systemSerge Hercberg adds to the series of colors and letters an F with black color for all alcoholic beverages in relation to the alcohol content in order to highlight their danger to health.
“Dfter the watered down wine and alarmist labels as for cigarettes, here is the proposal of the “black stamp” on the bottles to discourage their consumption by introducing a deceptive labeling system that endangers the quality production system of Made in Tuscany and of course Made in Siena, recognized and appreciated all over the world ”he affirms.
Coldiretti again: “These are absurd proposals. The umpteenth attempt by Europe to destabilize an important sector for our country and our province together with the primates of our agricultural and agri-food system and the extraordinary propensity to export the quality products of our companies with the wine that alone it is worth around 1 billion euros outside our borders. The traffic light system is misleading, discriminatory and incomplete for the consumer, harmful to businesses and for the first time in history it calls into question the principles of the Mediterranean diet which even recently was elected the best in the world, the healthiest; a diet that is based precisely on the regular consumption of a glass of wine with meals. The total inconsistency of these two visions is evident “. Coldiretti considers it improper to assimilate the abuse of spirits typical of Nordic countries to the moderate and conscious consumption of quality products with lower alcohol content such as beer and wine. In the background there is synthetic meat, which Coldiretti has harshly contested even recently, right in Tuscany, with an initiative to protect the stables and the Florentine steak symbol of Made in Tuscany. But not only. The attack on wine comes on the eve of the revision of the regulation in the coming years which risks providing for cuts in the funds destined for wine as well as meat, cold cuts and beer. “Behind this scheme – explains Coldiretti – there is a strategy of multinationals that would like to replace natural food with synthetic ones. We will overturn the counters in Europe to remove the idiotic mechanism of the traffic light label ”.
