[CDF] Monaco – Amiens SC: match notes
Anything but ridiculous, Amiens SC gave AS Monaco a lot of trouble before giving up their arms and seeing their career in the Coupe de France come to an end at the gates of the last four. All after a match where Kader Bamba highlighted his qualities while Mateo Pavlovic showed his limits. Check out our scores from this quarter-final.
The most prominent player: Kader Bamba (7)
Preferred to Arnaud Lusamba in the role of playmaker, Kader Bamba could very well have finished this match with a goal and two assists to his name, even beyond the six key assists designated. Always as sharp on his ball catches, the player on loan from Nantes was the real (and only) offensive detonator for Amiens SC. Central element of the Picard highlight between the 15th and 30th minute of play, he is also the one who forces Mannone to a big save at the start of the second half, and who could have (and perhaps should have obtained) a penalty (67′ ). If there was one who could play in the opposing team, it is indeed him.
The notes :
Most disappointing player: Mateo Pavlovic (3)
Directly involved in the two Monegasque goals, Pavlovic is guilty of a full axis recovery error on the opening of Aurélien Tchouameni’s score. The ASC captain is also the one who leaves Kévin Volland in play by not taking a step forward that could have been decisive. Also warned for a big foul in the center circle on the German striker, the former Angers defender was on the edge throughout the game.
In short
If he went for the ball in the back of his net twice, Yohann Thuram could not blame himself for his return to Louis II. The Amiens goalkeeper even stopped an even heavier addition by repelling a strike from Fofana in the first period and intervening in front of Jean-Lucas after returning from the locker room. If sovereign in Ligue 2, Formosa Mendy may have shown his limits in this match. If there were some sharp interventions, there was also this loss of duel too easy on the action bringing the second but Monegasque. Monaco was not mistaken either by regularly going to press on him on the relaunch. Back from the CAN, Mamadou Fofana delivered a fairly restrained match for its first since December 21. Only strike, this inconsequential breakthrough from Vanderson.
Three days after Harouna Sy’s painful performance at Sochaux, Matthew Xantippe was back in the starting XI. And the young defender trained at the club did pretty well defensively. Offensively, he was also sought high and in particular recovered with the high recovery at the origin of Kader Bamba’s strike. In the other hallway, Owen Gene was like his team. After a sluggish start, he gained momentum and got down to being very often available to his partners in the highlights of Amiens. Only recovery midfielder, Emmanuel Lomotey multiplied to plug the breaches in the Amiens midfield. The Ghanaian was more in difficulty construction.
In line with his latest releases, Jessy Benet appeared very timorous, not to say tender, against the Monegasque midfielder. Rarely at the right tempo, the former Grenoble player did not sparkle until his exit fifteen minutes from time. If he hasn’t found the way to the nets, Aliou Badji spared no effort on the attacking front with no less than fifteen contested duels. At his speed, this face-to-face with Mannone where he perhaps does not sting his ball enough. A warrior match if not a flamboyant game. At his side, Chadrac Akolo found himself in a favorable situation several times. Unfortunately, the Congolese lacked precision (28′), or showed impatience on a smoothly played free kick (25′).
