Behind the top of the omicron? Prague probably already
“Population with a high probability yes,” Dušek responded to the question whether we are already behind the top, as the Austrian claims.
“However, the regions are not running synchronously and now the numbers will oscillate at higher values. Some regions, such as Prague and Central Bohemia, are declining, but some others may be growing, “said the head of health statistics, who manages covid data and makes development predictions.
In an interview with Last Week’s News, he mentioned, for example, the South Moravian and Moravian-Silesian regions as examples of growing regions.
“So we will see high numbers in the total population data for some time to come, because in fact, large regions alternate to the top, which is quite significant. The decrease in the wave cannot be imagined by turning off the light and the problem disappears in a few days. It will last for some time. The most conservative models say that it will decline by the end of February, at the turn of February and March we should have relatively good numbers, “Dušek estimated at the time.

Austrian: The latest data suggest that we are behind the top
Interior Minister Vít Rakušan (STAN) said on Monday that the latest data suggest that the Czechia could find itself at the peak of the wave caused by the covid variant omikron.
“The situation is still serious, although it is improving. According to doctors, the fact that not so many people end up in intensive care units is a clear consequence of the fact that those who are vaccinated mainly with three doses do not really have a serious course, “said the Austrian.
Ministry of Health: Omicron wave culminates
The editors therefore also asked for a statement from Minister Vlastimil Válek (TOP 09), but he has not yet responded to the question sent via SMS.
Ministry spokesman Ondřej Jakob told Novinky that the omicron wave is now culminating. “High values can be expected this week and I assume that these values will fall from next week at the most,” he said.
“It simply came to our notice then. We have to wait for the numbers of the coming days, “Jakob added.
Laboratories in the Czech Republic detected 34,941 coronavirus infections on Monday, detecting 29,576 new cases and suspecting reinfection in another 5,365 people.
The cabinet of Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) decided last week that the obligation to prove certificates at the entrance to the restaurant or to various events will end from this Wednesday. In the end, however, this measure will not be revoked until Thursday.
Mandatory comprehensive testing in schools and companies will also end on 18 February.
Since last Tuesday, when the Czechia recorded 57,228 positive cases, the numbers have been gradually declining. In this context, the Austrian outlined on Monday that the government is preparing to approve the relaxation of the covid measures at its meeting this and the following Wednesday.
Hospital data suggest that people vaccinated with three doses of the vaccine do not end up overwhelmingly in difficult hospitals and intensive care units.
