Great cycling returns to Siena in March: first Strade Bianche, then Tirreno-Adriatico
After the victory last March of the Camaiore-Chiusdino stage of the world champion Julien Alaphilippe, who burned the two titans of modern cycling Wout Van Aert and Mathieu Van der Poel in the sprint, and the departure from Monticiano the following day, the 2022 season will start with numerous events in Val di Merse in the first fortnight of March.
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March there will be another battle in the dirt roads of Strade Bianche and immediately after the Tirreno-Adriatico they return on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 March, arriving in Sovicille and starting the next day from Murlo. Exactly one month from the dates of celebration of the events, the Municipalities of Murlo and Sovicille will repeat the initiative already set up for 8 and 9 December 2021, i.e. an initiative will light up in blue, the identifying color of the race of the two seas, two important monuments symbol of the respective territories for the nights of Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 February: the Pieve di Ponte allo Spino and the Castle of Murlo.
Another big news for next season will be the organization of a new cycling tour starting and arriving from Radicondoli on Sunday 13 March, which will follow numerous sections of the Grand Tour of the Val di Merse, the great 173 km itinerary which has been fully signposted since 2021. the permanent patent was created.
Once again cycling proves to be a formidable opportunity to promote the area and relaunch the economy of small towns.
