According to Rusvai, the epidemic has already peaked in Budapest, but we have to wait a bit longer in the countryside
According to the virologist, the fifth wave had already peaked in Budapest in the second half of last week, and he believes we have to wait a bit longer in the countryside.
Virologist Miklós Rusvai went to Spirit FM Aktuál, where he spoke about the omicron variant responsible for the fifth wave, in connection with which he shared the number of active infections in the case of omicron, as in the previous waves, but also has a positive result. fewer lost their lives in the virus than before.
The virologist elaborated on the differences between a coronavirus epidemic and influenza in that he sees coronavirus infection as no longer dangerous, such as influenza. The expert also said that in the event of re-infection, our body can remember how to handle the virus for a relatively long time.
He emphasized that the memory of this organism is not the same as protection, which lasts only 4-6 months, and at the end of which the number of antibodies decreases, but the body remembers the immunization and then can produce the necessary antibodies in 5-7 days. ATV.
Rusvai reminded us that vaccination against the coronavirus also plays a role in the fight against the virus because our immune system begins to produce the antibodies needed to defend itself immediately after the vaccine is given. Regarding the newly released variant called BA.2, he noted that in his view we have no cause for concern because it does not infect better than the original version.
