According to the Great Corona Study, 8 out of 10 young people want a booster shot | Antwerp
AntwerpEight out of ten of the vaccinated 12 to 17-year-olds would get a booster shot, if that option were available. This is apparent from a new round of the Great Corona Study. We give twice as often a hand of a kiss, and generally it’s going in the right direction.
On Tuesday 1 February, all interested parties could participate for the 45th time in the Great Corona Study – an initiative of UAntwerp, with collaboration from Hasselt University, KU Leuven, ULB and a financial push from the Research Foundation (FWO). More than 13,800 Belgians have some free time to complete the survey.
Among other things, the participants presented a number of questions about vaccination. Of the findings originating between 5 and 11 years of age, 42.5% indicate their species of cane has been vaccinated. 11.2% will certainly or probably still do so, 7.7% perhaps and 38.6% probably not or certainly not. The reason for not doing so: 70% think the safety is not sufficiently guaranteed for COVID-19 vaccines.

The study also found that 79.4% of the 12 to 17-year-olds who received their basic vaccination against cane probably or certainly also get their booster shot. 11.6% say they might do that, only 9% would probably or definitely not get boosted. “There is therefore a reluctance to take that little booster shot,” the researchers said. “The figures are a lot higher than with the basic vaccination for younger children.”
The politicians are currently debating a mandatory vaccination for all adults. Of the participants in the Great Corona Study, 74.4% agree with the mandatory jab. 18.1% are against, 7.5% do not know.
More hands and kisses
The Great Corona Study has been running since the start of the corona pandemic in March 2020. February 2021 with the situation in February 20. “Many people have the feeling that we cannot get out of misery. The pandemic is not over yet, but when we compare those indicators, we see that some progress has been made. For example, look at the number of people who give a kiss to people outside their own family: that has doubled. The number of people who work entirely from home has halved. Mental well-being is also moving in the right direction: the GHQ-12 barometer goes from 3.17 to 2.46. The lower the number, the better people feel mentally. This includes the nuance, just as certain subgroups have continued to have more intellectual problems over the past two years,” the researchers said.
