Jan Želivského Street in Prague has closed. Prague 3 City Hall fears a traffic collapse – ČT24 – Czech Television
Work began in the section from the intersection with Olšanská to U Nákladníového nádraží Street. Some drivers already had trouble navigating the situation in the morning. For example, the Prague police officers also helped on the spot.
Prague 3 has already criticized the planned deadline, according to which the work is poorly coordinated. “Last year there was a very unpleasant traffic situation, when the closures merged, which actually led to the blockage of Seifertova street and blocked it. We want us to know the plans, because we find out about them at the last minute, “said the Deputy Mayor of Prague 3, Ondřej Rut (Greens).
“Pražská plynárenská informs us that there is a gas accident that must be resolved within six months, which means that the requirement and resolution of the city district is also the worst possible, because something can happen to someone there. At the same time, the traffic intensity is the lowest at the same time, “argued Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr (Prague Sobě).
By the end of March, the passage of the intersection at the Želivského metro station will also be limited due to the excavation of sewers for Central Group housing projects. According to Prague 3, the municipality and the company Pražská plynárenská Distribuce should therefore postpone work on the gas pipelines, because the concurrence of both closures would, in addition to significant delays in tram and car traffic.
The municipality postponed the repair of Koněvova Street
Prague 3 also requested that the repairs to Konevova Street be postponed until the work on Jana Želivského Street was completely completed. He eventually complied with the municipality’s request.
According to Rut, however, coordination of work is still insufficient. “The Technical Administration of Roads only provided us with an inventory of its own construction projects at the request of the traffic restriction coordination plan of all engineering network owners. The city did not coordinate the actions of the owners of gas pipelines, water supply and sewerage systems and other networks, “he said earlier.
Scheinherr: The mayor did not come to the meeting
Scheinherr refused. “There have been at least three meetings convened by my office. We invited the Prague 3 Transport Department to all of them. Here were the years and information provided by all investors, “he pointed out. According to him, the last of these meetings took place last September 21, and Deputy Mayor Rut did not come to him without an apology.
According to Scheinherr, further meetings took place at the end of last year and this year, for example on 18 December above a specific limit. In addition to investor representatives, Rut and the mayor of Prague 3 Jiří Ptáček (TOP 09) will also attend this meeting.
“At this meeting, we agreed that the reconstruction of the pipeline took place, only the modifications of the traffic engineering solution were agreed upon – how it will be driven,” the deputy said recently. Only then did the city council approve the disagreement with the deadline.
Key streets in Žižkov have been gradually repaired for several years. Probably the worst traffic collapse was experienced by drivers in 2018. Adriana Krnáčová, then mayor of Prague, commented on the criticism: scandal”.
