Van Berckelaer lets go of forms of police council MINOS (Wijnegem)
Following the merger talks that Borsbeek is conducting, Mayor Dis Van Berckelaer (Everyone Borsbeek) indicated that the area of the MINOS police zone would be declared vacant.

In the past three years, Van Berckelaer was chairman of the police college and the council of the MINOS zone (Borsbeek, Wijnegem, Boechout, Wommelgem and Mortsel). In the following months, it should become clear that the police zone must continue without Borsbeek. “That’s why I don’t think it’s wise to be chairman. I have indicated to my colleagues the date that they may appoint a replacement for the next three years”, Van Berckelaer struggles. It should be clear next week who will succeed him.
Resignation refused

Flemish support
In the meantime, the municipality of Borsbeek has been in contact with the cabinet of Flemish Minister for Internal Affairs Bart Somers (Open Vld). During the merger talks, Flanders will support us with experts in order to achieve a win-win situation with Antwerp. Because in football terms, Antwerp is a club from 1A and Borsbeek is a team from provincial.”
