Prague – The Assembly of the YES Movement, led by former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, is being produced on Saturday, February 12, in Chodov, Prague. The election of the presidency will be on the agenda. This was announced in today’s invitation by the spokesman of the opposition movement, Martin Vodička. Babiš has previously said that he will defend the post of chairman YES.
The term of office of the management and other bodies of YES lasts until 17 February. The Republican Assembly was originally scheduled to take place at the end of last January, but was postponed due to a coronavirus pandemic.
The former head of the Chamber of Deputies, Radek Vondráček, will probably not defend the position of vice-chairman, which he has held since 2019. He wants to be important for the position of chairman of the parliamentary constitutional and legal committee, he told ČTK earlier. On the contrary, the former Minister of Finance and the current chairwoman of the ANO parliamentary group, Alena Schillerová, was considering a candidacy to lead the movement.
Former Central Bohemian Governor Jaroslava Pokorná Jermanová has been the vice-president of the performance movement since 2015. “I have not yet decided,” she said earlier when asked by ČTK about the possible function of the defense. Former Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister of Transport Karel Havlíček has not yet responded to ČTK’s question about a possible candidacy for the movement’s leadership.
In addition to Vondráček and Pokorná Jermanová, the current YES vice-president is the former Minister of the Environment Richard Brabec, who did not inform ČTK of his decision.
Originally, the first vice-president was Jaroslav Faltýnek, who resigned in October 2020 after a night meeting with the then Ministry of Health Roman Prymula in a restaurant that was to be closed according to anti-coronavirus measures. Petr Vokřál also became an ordinary deputy chairman at the last assembly, but the former mayor of Brno terminated his membership in the movement in June 2020 due to disputes in the Brno organization.
