Lyon on the right track to regain its pre-crisis level 🔑
VD: Over the past 18 months, everyone has seen the advantages and limits of virtuality.
There will be a hybridization of international congresses for distant countries. Which seems logical. This will represent a fairly small percentage of the population.
On sending to the local relays of associations, companies and participants, a real appetite for face-to-face. Distance learning does not have this networking or festive aspect. And then, there can be difficulties following conferences behind your screen.
There are high expectations on the content of the events, there really have to be interesting subjects for people to move. Ditto on the festive side, with the desire to live shared moments.
From the company’s point of view, depending on the message to be conveyed, it is more difficult to motivate its employees virtually.
TourMaG.com – What are the areas of development for MICE in Lyon?
VD: Lyon has always had a business tourism positioning.
It’s a city that has economic wealth, with lots of local businesses, lots of research, medicine. We are very well placed for scientific and medical congresses.
For MICE, we have a pool of companies, which explains why there are a lot of events in Lyon.
We are very dependent on transportation, air and rail. The development of the TGV with private operators will multiply the lines with Italy and neighboring markets.
We have extended the MICE charter until April 31, with exceptional General Terms and Conditions of Sale for more than 60 hotels, with no cancellation fees one month before the event, to provide flexibility and reassurance.
