Ikea donates to day care centers and schools
The Ikea furniture stores in Großburgwedel and at the Expo Park in Hanover are once again supporting children and youth projects in the Hanover region this year. Under the motto “Christmas trees for children’s dreams”, donations were collected for every Christmas tree sold. With 4166 trees sold, a donation total of 12,498 euros was collected, which is now being used to support projects at 25 day-care centers, after-school care centers and schools. The donations were handed over on Thursday – for the first time via video chat. “We are pleased that digitization is so far that we can offer such a campaign,” said facility manager Katrin Franke in Großburgwedel.
Help for cozy corners and relaxation rooms
For example, the DRK day-care center in Hüpede received support for new shelves in the day-care center library. There will be a new cozy corner in the after-school care center in Bordenau. And in Wedemark new playmats are purchased for the gymnastics room. The Groß Munzel primary school gets furniture for a seating area, the curative education center in Burgdorf equips a handicraft corner, and the tortoise group at the Markus kindergarten in Eilenriede gets a new sofa. “For us it is a highlight of the year to get to know the recipients of the campaign,” said Dietmar Weitze from the Ikea Expo Park. Therefore, he is expecting another meeting next year – very analogous.
