Coronavirus: 103 dead and 24,308 new cases today in Greece
The National Organization of Public Health (EODY) on Tuesday afternoon (01/02) that the laboratory confirmed new cases of coronavirus is 24,308, of which 65 were located following checks of the country’s entrance gates.
The total number of cases amounts to 1,965,719 (daily change + 1.3%), of which 49.8% are men. Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 441 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 2,229 are related to an already known case.

The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 103, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 23,608 deaths have been recorded.3 95.1% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.
The number of patients treated intubated is 563 (60.7% men). Their median age is 66 years. 83.8% have underlying meaning and / or age 70 years and over. Among intubated patients, 444 (78.86%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 119 (21.14%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,048 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
The admissions of Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory are 454 (daily change + 14.07%). The average seven-day admission is 436 patients.
Performing a test
In the last 24 hours, 40,684 molecular tests and 455,822 rapid tests were performed. In total 496,506 the positivity is estimated at 4.89%.
Sewage shows maintaining the epidemic at high levels
During the week 24 to 30 January 2022, there was a downward trend, compared to the week 17 to 23 January 2022, in the average weekly load of SARS-CoV-2 in urban wastewater in three of the eleven (3/11) areas controlled by the National Network of Sewage Epidemiology (EDEL) of EODY, increasing trends in three of the eleven (3/11) areas of EDEL and stabilizing trends in four of the eleven (4/11) areas controlled by EDEL.
Purely declining observations were observed in Xanthi (-29%) and Patras (-82%), while the marginal decrease was observed in Volos (-16%).
Clearly increasing trends were observed in Ioannina (+ 30%) and Heraklion (+ 61%), while the marginal increase was observed in the Attica Region (+ 22%).
The viral load of urban wastewater remained virtually stable in Chania (-5%), Alexandroupoli (-8%), Larissa (-10%) and Thessaloniki (-10%).
In Corfu the viral load of urban wastewater was detectable. However, it was not possible to calculate this weekly change compared to the previous week, as last week no samples of urban wastewater were examined from the city of Corfu.
