With the replacement building, the space available at the BBZ is to be optimized and supplemented; it will one day offer 31 classrooms, two sports halls, two sports rooms, a multi-purpose room and areas for administration and building operations. Generous greenery and a photovoltaic system are planned for the roof, which should generate 81,900 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
The new building is to be built in the immediate vicinity of the main school building near the main train station. The “INEZ” project is being implemented by Gunz & Künzle Architekten from Zurich, who won a competition organized by the building construction department in 2018. The new building should continue to be implemented according to the Minergie-P-Eco standard and achieve the “Gold” label from the SNBS.
No solar cells on facade
On Monday, the cantonal council approved the property loan of CHF 50.2 million for the project with 168 votes. The quorum of the spending brake was thus achieved without any problems. On Monday, however, there was still talk as to why solar cells are only planned for the roof, but not for the facade.
According to building director Martin Neukom (Greens), this is usually not planned for projects that have been in the planning for a long time. Such projects would only come slowly now. Planning for facade solar cells afterwards would be a disproportionately large effort.
Around 4,500 apprentices are currently completing basic or advanced vocational training at the vocational school. (mgt/pb/sda)
