With Gianluca Gaudino, SCR Altach has signed a former German youth team player. The 25-year-old central midfielder moved on loan from German second division club SV Sandhausen to bottom of the Bundesliga in the summer. Gaudino had only played seven competitive games with the Germans because of a coronavirus disease. The game designer was trained at Bayern Munich and also made eleven competitive appearances with the record champions.
“With Gianluca Gaudino we will have a creative player who will enrich our offensive game with his technical skills and his intelligent way of playing. But that also includes his strengths in standard situations,” said Altach’s sporting director Werner Grabherr. Gaudino himself would like to make “his contribution to staying up in the league”. He also worked for the Swiss clubs FC St. Gallen and Young Boys Bern and in Italy for Chievo Verona.
Altach gave up two supplementary players who are supposed to improve second division club FC Dornbirn. Amir Abdijanovic went on loan to his home club until the end of the season, Mario Stefel is leaving Altach completely. Both have only made one brief appearance in the Bundesliga this season.
Salzburg bring in a new right-back
Champions Salzburg have signed a new right-back in Belgian Ignace van der Brempt. As the Champions League round of 16 announced on Monday evening, the 19-year-old comes from FC Bruges and signed a contract until the end of June 2026. Salzburg is said to have transferred five million euros to the top Belgian club for Van der Brempt.
The Belgian U21 team player featured in twelve league games and five games in the Champions League for Bruges in autumn. Van der Brempt acted mostly as a substitute.
“He has developed very well at FC Brugge in recent years and worked his way up from the juniors to the first team,” said Salzburg’s sporting director Christoph Freund about the arrival. This brings “excellent requirements in the overall package and fits perfectly into our requirement profile”. Van der Brempt said: “It will definitely take me a little time to get used to here. But I have a good feeling and I want a lot.”
