Babiš’s office district goes to the ice. Prague wants apartments in Letňany
Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) said this today. He added that he would meet with the Prime Minister in the near future regarding Letňan and other Prague issues. Today, councilors approved another exchange of property with the state, others are planned for the spring.
In the last election period, Babiš called on the municipality’s leadership to transfer the city land in Letňany to the state in order to build a complex for thousands of civil servants. The city resisted, Hřib rejected the idea of an “official ghetto” and made the transfer of land to the state conditional on a number of conditions, such as a financial contribution to the completion of the city ring road.
I do not think that the Prime Minister would like to continue the plan to move officials to Letňany at this time.
According to Babiš, the idea was clear: as described in the List of Reports, officials were to leave 33 buildings, mostly at good addresses in the center of Prague, where the state is rented or owned, but maintenance is expensive. The state houses would be sold and the proceeds would cover the construction of the complex in Letňany.
The construction in Letňany was to cost Babiš 10 billion crowns, and the proceeds from the sale of the buildings that the officials will leave will amount to 9.2 billion.
The negotiations were not completed until the elections. In the meantime, the city began preparing a proposal for a new district, which should be established in Letňany. I count on apartments, administration and a reserve for the hospital. According to Hřiba, it now looks like the state will no longer be interested in land. “I have no indication that the Prime Minister would like to continue the plan to move officials to Letňany at this time,” he said.
This was also confirmed by the councilor for the property Jan Chabr (TOP 09). “It is not clear that the Letna area for the construction of the government city would be a priority of this government, and so the Office for Representation of the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM) will perceive it, as it has no further indication that the shift should continue, which we I welcome, “he said. He added that the state’s request for Letňany blocked further property shifts that needed to be completed.
Hřib further said that due to Letňany, the completion of circuits and other important issues for Prague, he should meet with the Prime Minister and other ministries in the near future. According to him, even in the case of a change in the state’s position, nothing will change in Letňany and the city will continue to prepare a proposal for a new development. “Whether office buildings will be used by government officials or a commercial administration does not matter,” he said. He added that the state could plan the land for the hospital to use for the construction of an oncology center.
The city will continue smaller property transactions with the state. In the spring, according to Chabr, the exchange of a larger part of the Bulovka University Hospital complex for the barracks in Karlín and the Bohdalec complex should be approved. The councilor added that in the spring, councilors should also vote on the exchange of Faust’s house on the premises of the General University Hospital, which is owned by the city, behind the state-owned Veleslavín chateau.
