The head of government promises another family support, while according to a political scientist Hungary is no longer a democracy
If Fidesz wins the election, another family support system will come into force, promised Viktor Orbán on Friday morning, who said the opposition had gone too far. Hungary is no longer a democracy, and the elections are not fair, but the system can only be replaced by an election – a political analysis of the last twelve years.
There is no democracy and the elections are not fair
Political scientist Labanino Rafael gave an interview to our newspaper, who said that although Hungary has long been a non-democracy and the elections are not fair, the Orbán regime can only be defeated in the elections. According to the analyst, the opposition has already met the minimum conditions, but everything can depend on mobilization. Even if the opposition wins, it could take a long time to dismantle the Orban system, but even consolidation is unthinkable in the event of a Fidesz victory, the political scientist said.
According to Labanino Rafael, the election is not fair because the parties are not running on equal terms. The ruling party spends an infinite amount of money on the campaign, no matter how much it is legally regulated. On the one hand, pro-government NGOs are also campaigning for Fidesz, and the government itself is advertising, and these extra costs are now even being papered out. This is because a referendum campaign does not regulate how much can be spent. This is one of the reasons for one day’s referendum in the 2022 parliamentary elections. It could also be a loophole for the opposition to spend more on this campaign if it can and wants to, said the analyst, who also mentioned that most of the press is pro-government, the public media is spreading government propaganda and the advertising market is severely constrained. .
Viktor Orbán: “They just went too far”
The Prime Minister talked about new family allowances, but no details were given, only that the existing allowances will be maintained and new ones will be added if they win the election. He also spoke out about the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in a statement to the public media and took a hard line against the opposition. Viktor Orbán will travel to Moscow on Tuesday.
The prime minister said in his usual Friday public radio interview that some of the related elements of the family support system have yet to be included, but the government aims to bring tangible financial benefits, financial benefits from having children.
“We want to leave the country to our own children, not to strangers, so if there are children, there is a future, if there are no children, there is no future for the family or the country.”
Said the Prime Minister.
Regarding the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, he said that Hungary was interested in peace, and that he would talk to key politicians in NATO and the European Union about his talks with the Russian president in Moscow next week.
“I have already done some of this, and I will continue to do so in the coming days. Then I will go to Moscow in consultation with NATO, the European Union and the politicians who will preside over the union. ”
– said the prime minister, who also pointed out that the opposition attacking the government’s epidemic management said it had gone too far, although it did not explain exactly what he meant.
The phone rang from Washington at the Hungarian Foreign Office
Derek Chollet, the U.S. State Department’s council, reported on Twitter that he had called Peter Sztáray, the secretary of state for the State Department, on Wednesday. Chollet wrote that U.S. diplomatic procedures were being discussed in an attempt to ease tensions between Russia and Ukraine. According to the American diplomat, by the way “Russia’s military mobilization and greater aggression” the reason for the tension between the two countries. Hungary’s participation in NATO, as well as Hungarian-American military and security cooperation were also discussed at the meeting.
The Hungarian foreign affairs only published a statement about the meeting, after which they wrote: the two sides agreed that a diplomatic solution should be sought in order to de-escalate.
“Derek Chollet welcomed Allied united action at the NATO-Russia Council on 12 January 2022 and briefed the Secretary of State on the next diplomatic move by the United States. Péter Sztáray said that a peaceful solution could be found and that areas where Western and Russian interests were close should be exploited. ”
– states in the communication.
Hungarian diplomacy is often accused of standing up to the interests of the West over similar conflicts. In January, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó made statements in line with Moscow’s position on Kazakh symptoms – a few weeks after Moscow received the awardwhich a foreign citizen can get in Russia.
Government money
It was a wasted decade, said Dóra Győrffy, a political scientist and professor at the Corvinus University of Budapest, when we asked for a one-time economic evaluation of the cycle. Behind every positive figure, there is an unfavorable one: for example, that more people are working than they have been for ten years but produce less value, says our analyst in our podcast, assessing the economic policies of the past twelve years. Professional and communication overview with university professor Dóra Győrffy and campaign consultant Bálint Ruff.
What is the difference between election fraud and abuse? Can anyone who buys or sell votes get a prison sentence? We answer in a video, which also shows how many villages there were in Hungary in the last elections, where only pro-government delegates counted the votes. According to the National Electoral Office, opposition parties in 2018 could not send delegates to the twelve constituencies. This means that in more than forty percent of settlements with less than 500 inhabitants, only Fidesz delegates counted the votes.
