Temporarily extra affordable from a P+R to the center of Antwerp (Antwerp)
Transport company De Lijn temporarily offers a favorable rate for those who park their car in a P+R on the edge of the city and travel to Antwerp by bus or tram. From February 1 to April 30, travelers can purchase a monthly pass or 10-ride card that is valid for three months.
Earlier this month, the new P+R Linkeroever on Blancefloerlaan was opened. The car park has a frequency of 22 trams per hour during rush hour. The P+Rs Luchtbal and Merksem have a frequency of 15 trams per hour.
“From 1 February, two types of tickets will be available for sale at the ticket machines at the stops P+R Linkeroever, Halewijnlaan, Van Eedenplein, P+R Luchtbal and P+R Merksem,” says De Lijn in a press release. “On the one hand you have the ‘P+R Antwerp’ pass for 35 euros, initially the ‘P+R Antwerp’ 10-ride card is for 10 euros.”
The discounted tickets are on sale until April 30, 2022 and are valid for three months. Travelers will find the cheap ‘P+R Antwerp’ tickets in the ‘Day Pass’ drop-down menu.
“The new P+R buildings offer commuters the security of a parking space in one of the parking towers that have been prepared”, Minister of Mobility and Public Affairs, Lydia Peeters (Open Vld). “Once the car is parked, they can transfer to one of the trams that stop at the P+R and commute to the center at a very affordable rate. We also hope to close a lot of people who move to Antwerp for work through the monthly pass.”
