Geneva-Servette continues to be a force at home

Sugar Mizzy January 28, 2022

Servette – ZSC Lions 3:0 – Genève-Servette cannot be stopped at home by the in-form ZSC Lions and wins 3:0. It is the tenth home win in a row for Geneva.

Servette’s match winner was Daniel Winnik, who made it 1-0 (16th) and 20 seconds before the first break to make it 2-0. The 36-year-old forward, who is part of Canada’s Olympic squad, has scored twice this season for the fifth time – hitting three once. With 24 goals in the current championship, the 2-0 was his tenth power play, he is number 1 in these statistics.

The second period was marked by many penalties on both sides. In the 34th minute, Sven Andrighetto from Zurich had to take a shower early because of a check from behind, as did 19-year-old Theo Campagna from Geneva, who took revenge for this offence. In the last third too little came from the lions, who remained without a goal for the fourth time this season. For goalie Dominic Nyffeler, who was loaned to Geneva by Kloten and who made his first shutout in the National League thanks to 21 saves, it was the perfect end to his time with Servette, who achieved their twelfth win in the last 15 games. The Zurich suffered the second defeat in the last 13 games.

Joël Vermin was responsible for Geneva’s 3-0 with a shot into the empty goal (59th). The national striker scored for the ninth time in the new year and can definitely travel to Beijing with a very good feeling.
