The trial of João Rendeiro’s extradition case was scheduled for June, with the Verulam court ruling that the Portuguese part of the process must return to Portugal, after a damaged seal was found. According to CNN Portugal, the hearing will take place between the 13th and 30th of June, with no definite data yet.
In two weeks, in February, there will be a new session to take measures to prevent Portuguese, with the former president of Banco Privado in preventive detention until then.

In the previous hearing, displaying a large cardboard box with several that was delivered by the prosecutor, the judge was detailed to the fact that there were “two documents of documentation and documents”, with the “seal of the Portuguese version, unlike the English version”. Even so, the magistrate contests the issue later, being able to accept a provisional documentation.
The red and green tape that sealed the set of documents in Portuguese was broken, while the translated documents were properly sealed.

João Rendeiro has been detained in South Africa since December 11, after three months on the run from Portuguese justice, for which he was convicted in three different cases – one of which has already become final – related to the fall of Banco Privado Português, of which he was president. In all, the former banker was sentenced to more than 16 years in prison.
He ended up fleeing Portugal in September, passing through several countries, before settling in South Africa, where he ended up detained in a luxury hotel in the city of Durban. It is in this same city that he has been detained for 42 days, in Westville prison, one of the largest and most dangerous in the country.
