Toulouse. United against the closure of their gym
Established for 10 years in the Guilheméry district, the “Coach Lacomette” sports hall closed its doors on January 3. A sudden closure that breaks a neighborhood dynamic and leaves many athletes helpless. Sandrine Lacoma, the manager, a former high-level athlete, had, thanks to her skill and her natural charisma, succeeded in creating a unique place. “Far from the muscle and cardio factories”, a friendly, family-friendly place that creates social ties, where all generations from 10 to 90 years old rub shoulders.
Alas, two years of health crisis had the reason for this great company. From 230 registered before the first confinement, the number fell to 76 in December 2021, with only 12 new registrations in September. Demotivation, fear of the virus, unvaccinated people, the recovery proposed at the start of the school year did not take place. ” Never seen ! “says Sandrine. A collective made up of fifteen former members and friends is determined to support it and is looking for solutions to revive the spirit that animated their club.
“I go to the room twice a day”
Among them Viviane, “queen of the elliptical” who wears her 79 springs superbly. “I went to the room twice a day, I miss it terribly”. Nicolas, the group’s marathon runner: “Sandrine knew how to cheer me up when things were not going well”. As for Pascale, a former “allergic” to sport, she now swears only by her coach. In the immediate future, Sandrine survives thanks to coaching at home or a few outdoor lessons. For the members of the collective who are considering the creation of an association in the medium term, it is a question of finding a place where Sandrine could give her lessons on fixed days and times. Hoping for help, they asked for an audience with Laurence Arribagé, elected representative of the district and delegate for Sports at the town hall of Toulouse.
