Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, the real stars of the match for Fight Aids Monaco
Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella of Monaco were present this Monday evening at the Louis-II stadium in Monaco for the charity football match played for the benefit of Fight Aids Monaco, the association of their aunt, Princess Stéphanie.
Didier Deschamps, David Trezeguet, Youri Djorkaeff, Robert Pires, Claude Puel, Bruno Bellone or even Marco Materazzi. These famous footballers were, this Monday, January 24, 2022, on the lawn of the Louis-II stadium alongside other former AS Monaco players, as well as French and foreign clubs. At their side the nephew of the Monegasque sovereign Louis Ducruet, the racing driver Charles Leclerc or the former footballer Laure Boulleau. Divided into two teams – that of Prince Albert II, the “Barbagiuans” and that of Princess Stéphanie, the “FC Cirque” – they had come to compete in the second edition of the Fight Aids Cup. But these are upstaged by two 7-year-olds. Because Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella of Monaco were also present, in the public for their part. And they were obviously the real stars of this charity football match for the benefit of Fight Aids Monaco, the association for the fight against HIV/AIDS founded in 2004 by their aunt, Princess Stéphanie.
To review : Princess Charlene is 44 years old: her life unfolded in a hundred photos
The Fight Aids Cup was born in 2019, from an initiative of Louis Ducruet. It is part of the tradition of the friendly match which, each year, on the spring break of the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival, was played at the Cap-d’Ail stadium. At the time, the Barbagiuans team already included former international players, while the circus team was made up of real circus artists. To overcome this inequality – professional footballers always prevailed – the son of Princess Stéphanie had the idea of strengthening the “FC Cirque” with other big names in the round ball. What attract, moreover, more sponsors and spectators.
Jacques and Gabriella had matched, with one difference
The twins had matched for the occasion, but with one small difference. If both were in jeans and wore high white shoes with laces, the girl wore red socks, while those of her brother were blue. A way to display the color of the team they supported. Because Gabriella was, like Stéphanie, for the “Cirque FC”, while Jacques, like Albert, supported the “Barbagiuans”. Likewise, their black anoraks, which at first glance were similar, were adorned with different coats of arms. Opposed therefore on the ground, the children of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene – which would still be recovering in Switzerland – were, despite everything, very accomplices as they always are. And especially when it came to striking a pose against Bouba, AS Monaco’s funny elephant mascot.
