Portugal stagnant in the rapprochement perception index. New strategy considered insufficient – Justice
The political party does not cover political bodies and Banco de Portugal. The alert comes within the scope of the annual disclosure of the Corruption Perception Index, in which Portugal appears one point above, compared to 2020, placing itself in the 32nd position of the table, in which 180 countries are evaluated.
At the top are Denmark, Finland and New Zealand, all three with 88 points. Sudan, with eleven points, Syria and Somalia, both with 13, occupy the worst places in this ranking. Portugal registers 62 points and is below the averages of Western Europe and the European Union, of 64 and 66 points, respectively.
The Index scale, remember, ranges from 0 (perceived as very corrupt) to 100 (very transparent).
“We still have a lot to work on at the level of the Great Corruption Section, a point at the top of the National Perception of the great public”, stressed Susana Coroado, institutions of the Directorate of Transparency International Portugal, in a note sent to the press.
An analysis of the evolution of this index at a more global level reveals that Portugal is no exception. Indeed, 86% countries in recent years little or no struggle to resolve in recent years of development, “indicates a stagnation of the latest governmental exercises to combat as causes of international evolution”.
Process of combating the resolution “stagnated”
The Western Europe and European Union (EU) region appears with an average of 66 points and, therefore, still at the top of the Index, but Transparency considers that the process of combating the International considers that the process of combating the International “has stagnated ” and that there is “a” worrying new normal”, in which account contracting and transparency measures are increasingly neglected, with even specific conditions of setback during the pandemic period, with consequences in terms of people’s trust .

Bulgaria, with 42 rating, Hungary with 43 and Romania, 45, have the worst performances in this region.
CPLP maintains low results
In the 2021 edition of the Corruption Perception Index, the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) continues to demonstrate “enormous weaknesses, with the reporting problems in the public sector being clear”, also highlights the now released.
Even so, of the nine countries that make up the CPLP, only São Tomé and Príncipe worsened the maintenance compared to the previous year, Brazil and Cape Verde maintained the value. All others have improved, although these are not significant differences.
However, with the exception of Portugal and Cape Verde, all CPLP countries have a rating below 50.
