“exemplary sanctions” for the soldiers filmed chaining skids
In December, soldiers were filmed chaining skids aboard a 4×4 before getting stuck in the mud near a migrant camp.
The story had rocked social media for a few days. The army took “exemplary sanctions” against the soldiers whose 4×4 had got stuck in the mud in December after a series of skids near a migrant camp in Calais, report The voice of the North this Tuesday.
“They were sanctioned by the institution, indicated a spokesperson. For reasons of confidentiality, it is not possible for us to communicate to you the details of these disciplinary sanctions. They were exemplary”, detailed the service of communication of the institution with our colleagues.
Outrage on social networks
On a video filmed by journalist Louis Witter and posted on Twitter on December 19, we saw a military vehicle chain skids and bursts of speed before getting stuck in a rut. Migrants had ended up lending a hand to the soldiers to free the 4×4 from the mud. Widely distributed, the images had then caused an uproar on the social network.
Following this incident, the army had revealed to open “immediately” an investigation and denounced on Twitter an “inadmissible scene”.
