A robot, designed in Toulouse, at the service of a management school
The partnership started more than a year ago and will continue in view of its success. In autumn 2020IManagement School of Grenoble and the Toulouse start-up specialized in indoor autonomous vehicles Wyca Robotics have associated. Objective: to simplify and evaluate teaching towards digital technology through robotics.
To do this, the company has made its robot available to the school Elodie Top interactive to “create new forms of teaching based on technologies and reinventing the distanciel”, specifies the company in a press release. This modular robot with autonomous navigation comprises seven wheels of 53 centimeters. It measures approximately 164 cm and weighs more than 70 kg.

Used for remote courses
The Ecole de Grenoble brings together more than 8,000 students and 500 employees who will meet the challenges of management, technology and innovation in companies. Fr 2016it has created a new campus: the GEM Laboratories (Innovation and Experimentation Lab). one year, he uses the Elodie robot daily to dispense the distance learning.

The robot evolve within BizLabs platforms. These are four spaces for testing and simulating technologies serving immersive educational scenarios: a connected apartment and street, a store specializing in ski clothing (in partnership with Picture Organic Clothing) and a convenience store (in partnership with Auchan and Panzani).
Inside these platforms, the Elodie robot has found its place as a whole new educational tool for teachers and learners. It made it possible to imagine and carry out distance learning methods that had never before been tested”, the start-up prospers.

A mobile and interactive educational assistant
The Elodie robot is entirely customizable. It includes a function ofinteractive screen integrated with a 4K camera, microphone and speakers. Its display is dynamic with a 27 inch dual touch screen. These characteristics allow it to ensure mobility for teachers. It thus enables them to give their courses in total autonomy.
Teachers can thus move around within the various dedicated spaces and shops, while being followed by the robot which films and broadcasts to students in real time. Students also have the ability to interact live with the course.
This robot is a real assistant for the teacher by offering hybrid courses combining theory and practice, face-to-face and remote”, underlines the start-up.

Versatility and adaptability
In this case, the multi-purpose platform of the Wyca robot allows a great adaptability for the various interlocutors (companies, students, etc.). It “allows you to create complex scenarios”, specifies the company. Entirely securedthe robot is designed to avoid contact with people and property, “guaranteeing autonomy and serenity for the school”, assures Wyca Robotics.

Thanks to that versatilitythe robot can thus endorse many to help with the purchasing decision. This is the case, for example, of the integration of chatbots in the touch screen or the orientation of the consumer according to his characteristics (preferences, family situation, etc.).
The contribution of open and modular robotics marks certain prospects for change in teaching methods in the business and management sector. It also allows companies to question themselves on these technologies which offer many advantages to understand the consumer in his buying journey”, as well as the company.
