Raser crashes into a traffic light in a chase
A speeder has apparently delivered a chase with the police in the drug intoxication in Berlin-Spandau. The driver was noticed by the crew of a patrol car around 9 p.m. on Sunday evening because he was driving through the city much too quickly. The police officers then immediately take up the pursuit. On Ruhlebener Strasse, it signals the speeder with flashing lettering and a siren to stop the car. But the man accelerated and tried to escape.
When he fled, he raced through several red lights, the police said. The fleeing motorist drove so fast that the police lost sight of him despite the blue lights and siren being on. However, he didn’t get far. Due to his high speed, he lost control of the car on the Reichsstrasse and crashed into a pedestrian traffic light. Since the car was no longer roadworthy, he fled on foot. However, one of the officers was able to catch up with him and arrest him.
Police find cannabis and cash
According to the police, the man then repeatedly claimed not to have been behind the wheel of the accident car. However, when the emergency services searched him, they found the right vehicle keys. Officers also seized cash, a knife and a bag of cannabis. According to the police, the man had probably not drunk alcohol, a test showed a value of 0.0 per mille.
However, since he gave the impression of having consumed drugs, blood was drawn from him in police custody. The VW, which belongs to another vehicle owner and in which a knife was found, among other things, was confiscated. The investigations are ongoing.
