D’Sound is a Norwegian pop and neo soul band that was formed in 1993. Jonny Sjo describes a special chemistry that arose between him and Kim when they trafficked each other in the United States. They were captivated when they met the singer Simone at home in Norway.

After the group signed a record deal in 1996, the music has been played on all continents of the world. After several years of traveling and countless concerts, Simone had a dramatic message to make.

– I had thought about it for a long time.

The year is 2017 and the band is gathered in the studio for Good Morning Norway, where they perform the song «Good man, Good girl».

– It trembled inside me, I was shaking. After the performance we had a bad time so I just had to grab Kim and Jonny. I saw; “I have to say it now, I’m quitting!”

Simone expected a strong reaction, but was surprised when she was met with love and understanding.

– The worst thing was that she had to stop making music. Simone has a magic vocal and I did not quite get it to tune. It was enormously melancholy, but at the same time a relief for her, as it was a difficult time. You have to let go when you see that you need it, Jonny tells Good Morning Norway.

The trio is based on a strong friendship, which Kim thinks is very important as he was not surprised by Simone’s decision. He describes her as absent and that there was more focus on understanding and care rather than a reaction in aggression.

Jonny and Kim bit ignited together and continued as D ‘Sound, where they collaborated with other artists.

New album

Now the group has released the album «25», a record consisting of various collaborations with great artists, also with Simone.

She has decided to join D’Sound on her own terms, which are based on energy and motivation. The most important thing for her is that it is the band’s name and not «Feat. Simone ». She thinks it has been fun to see what the guys have developed with other artists in the meantime, and has been used in the future with a good group dynamic at the bottom.

Kim says that it is a very important album, precisely because Simone is involved.

– We will continue with D’Sound as long as we are inspired, want and think it’s fun, the trio concludes.
