The Pierre De Coubertin San Marino Committee brings to light the stamps made in San Marino in 1959 and 1963 in memory of the father of modern Olympism
On January 1st 2022 the Pierre De Coubertin San Marino Committee was officially born but the link between the Republic of San Marino and the founder of the modern Olympic Games goes back a long way.
Already in 1959, San Marino had issued a philatelic series dedicated to Pierre De Coubertin and there was also another issue, in 1963, for the centenary of the Baron’s birth. The stamps were for 2 lire and 120 lire and are still extremely appreciated and sought after by collectors from all over the world.

In addition to San Marino, other states have also celebrated the figure of Baron De Coubertin through postage stamps: from Italy to Nigeria, from Uruguay to Germany, from Cuba to Monaco. Over the past decade various nations have issued series of stamps in memory of Pierre De Coubertin, including Spain and Monaco.
The values transmitted by the father of Olympism are always of great relevance and remembering the figure of Pierre De Coubertin is of primary importance.
