Cologne coach Steffen Baumgart has officially made a decision: he is making a goalkeeper change. One player who was born in Cologne and has been playing for FC since his youth is left behind: Timo Horn.

Coach Steffen Baumgart has now officially decided in favor of Marvin Schwäbe and against Timo Horn in the duel between the goalkeepers at Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln. “I’ve already spoken to Timo. He fully accepts the situation because he’s a good sportsman,” Baumgart said on Friday: “Timo is now in the challenger position.”

Horn was born in Cologne, has played for FC since he was young and is a fan idol. Most recently, however, he had first wobbled and then gone through a corona infection, in the meantime he has resumed light training. Schwäbe has recently shown convincing performances.

Ellyes Skhiri will still be missing. The midfielder is with Tunisia in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon against Nigeria. Marvin Obuz is also out.
