United Lithium discovers two new lithium-rich pegmatites at Bergby Project, Sweden, in ongoing drilling programs
- New high-quality spodumen-bearing pegmatites were crossed
- Rush analyzes on holes BBY21069 from a new pegmatite gave 47.75 m (actual thickness 10 m) of 1.34% Li2O
- 42 holes have now been completed on a total of 3730 m since United Lithium acquired Bergby Lithium Project
- Drilling continues; analyzes ongoing or incomplete on most holes
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, January 20, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – United Lithium Corp. (CSE: ULTH; OTC: ULTHF; FWB: 0UL) (“ULTH“or the”Business”) Are pleased to announce the completion of 42 core boreholes at the Bergby Lithium project near Gävle in Central Sweden. A new spodumen-bearing pegmatite was discovered in December 2021, with analyzes available from the BBY21069 discovery hole. Drilling continues on this new discovery.
Discovery hole BBY21069 is cut 47.75 m of 1.34% Li2O from 2.25 m under shallow ground cover. It is interpreted based on adjacent holes (BBY21071 and BBY21073 – see Figure 1) that the borehole BBY21069 crossed the host pegmatite at a low angle to dip and the actual thickness is about 10 meters. See Table 1 for the individual analysis intervals for boreholes BBY21069.
This new deposit is located 750 meters northwest of the original lithium deposit Bergby, which was drilled in 2017 (see Figures 2 and 3). The site was identified from boulder hunting and sampling and highlights the potential at Bergy for new discoveries near the surface. The Bergy field has the properties of a pegmatite swarm with several intrusions, and ULTH’s technical team expects that additional pegmatites will be located.
Hole BBY21170, drilled 50 m south of BBY21069, is planned to be deepened to test whether the spodumen-rich horizon is continuous to the southwest. Additional holes are planned to test the northeastern and southwestern extensions of this spodumen pegmatite (see Figure 2). Should positive visual results be received in the first steps out of the holes, further drilling will be added to test further northeast and southwest of BBY21069.
Michael Dehn, President and CEO of the company said: “We are pleased to have achieved two new blind high quality lithium deposits on the property in less than half a year of drilling. The boulder sampling program has been very successful in vectoring drilling targets for this new zone. The Bergby project is still much unexplored, and we look forward to further testing this discovery and further targets in 2022. “
