Prague 5 has chosen a company for the transformation of Chaplin Square in Barrandov
Prague – Modifications to Chaplin Square in Prague’s Barrandov made for the City Hall of Prague 5 for about 35.9 million crowns without VAT by the company Gardenline. City councils this week decided to choose a contractor for the project being prepared for years. According to the Deputy Mayor of Prague 5 Lubomír Brož (YES), the town hall would like to sign the contract with the company by the end of February, it should be ready according to the contract within 26 weeks of signing.
The company that the town hall selected in the tender offered the second lowest price, the offer of Opreko was about five million crowns lower. However, according to the evaluation committee, the offer with a lower price did not contain all the necessary documents, which the company did not supply even during the subsequent completion. The Commission therefore decided to exclude it from the tender, to which it responded by sending objections which the district council rejected.
The city district will have the public lighting replaced in the square and a drinking fountain and an irrigation system using rainwater. According to a study commissioned by the town hall, the project will also include new furniture and game elements, landscaping and maintenance and cleaning of the statues in the square, especially the sculpture of Charlie Chaplin, after which the area is named.
The panel housing estate was built in Barrandov in the 1980s and is estimated by 20,000 to 30,000 people. The development was connected to the original film studios and a residential area in the west. In 2003, a tram line connected the housing estate with the city center, which the transport company is now extending to Holyna. Eventually he will lead to Sliven. To the west of the housing estate, a new Finep development surrounded by a park is to be built in the future.
