For the fourth time in a row, Monaco signed a victory in the Euroleague on the occasion of its trip to the floor of Zenit Saint-Petersburg (77-86).
Monaco no longer stops in the Euroleague! Two days after winning at the Astroballe against ASVEL, Sasa Obradovic’s players confirmed their very good form at the time during a never-easy trip to the Zenit Saint-Petersburg floor. The Principality’s players executed hard with a 14-4 to reach the ten-point lead after just under five minutes. However, the Russian club had some backing. Led by Jordan Mickey (18 points), Zenit Saint Petersburg erased their delay before the end of the first quarter. Dwayne Bacon (20 points, 6 rebounds), however, allowed ASM to take the lead after the first ten minutes. An advantage that the “Roca Team” was able to maintain at first… before experiencing a new air pocket. Signing a 9-0, the Russians were then able to pass in front with a score of one point for the first … and only time of the match. The Monegasques finished this first act better to find their locker room with a four-point lead.
Monaco never let Zenit back
Back on the floor, the Monegasques pushed but were never able to outpace Zenit Saint-Petersburg very clearly. Xavi Pascual’s proteges were able to stay under ten points behind throughout the third quarter but without ever making the connection with the “Roca Team”. Sensing that the threat was still present, Sasa Obradovic’s players put a big boost at the start of the fourth quarter. The result was a gap that once again rose above the ten point mark. Three minutes from the buzzer, Mike James (21 points, 5 assists) gave the Principality club a thirteen-length advantage. If the Russian club then returned to eight points, the teammates of Mindaugas Kuzminskas (12 points) could never do better and lost nine points (77-86), ending their series of four straight victories . Monaco, for its part, has a fourth success in a row in the Euroleague and is provisionally in eighth place.
