BAG reports 39,807 new cases +++ Austria introduces compulsory vaccination
In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH reported 39,807 new coronavirus infections in 108,896 tests on Thursday. At the same time, the BAG registered 13 new deaths and 138 hospital admissions.
Yesterday, Wednesday, the BAG reported 38,015 new infections. That was also a previous record. Now the numbers have gone up again. On the same day a week ago, the BAG had received reports of 29,887 confirmed new infections, 122 hospital admissions and 18 deaths. The number of cases has increased by 33.2 percent within a week. Hospital admissions increased by 13.1 percent compared to the previous week.
There are currently a total of 667 people in intensive care in the hospitals. The utilization of the intensive care units is currently 76.70 percent. 28.20 percent of the available beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients.
In the past two weeks, 4,192.72 work-confirmed coronavirus infections were reported per 100,000 inhabitants. The reproduction number R, which indicates how many people an infected person infects on average, was 1.11 about ten days ago.
68.00 percent of the population in Switzerland are now fully vaccinated. Another 1.70 percent received a first dose. Of the population aged 12 and over, 77.37 percent are vaccinated. In addition, 35.99 percent of the general population and 71.96 percent of those over 65 have received a so-called booster vaccination.
