First shared rental station for electric vehicles

For the first time in the province of Salzburg, the residents of a residential complex in Salzburg-Aigen have access to a rental station for various electric vehicles: from electric cars to e-scooters, everything is included. This so-called mobility point was set up during the renovation of the facility.
The Mobility Point has been in operation in the Heimat Österreich residential complex in the Salzburg district of Aigen since mid-February. The first interested parties are currently being trained in how to use the loan system.
“We can do without our own car”
Carolina Leon is one of over 300 residents. For them, the rental station directly at the entrance to the housing estate is an attractive offer: “We have a cargo bike, but no car. But sometimes we need a car because we have children. That’s why the electric rental car is the perfect solution.” The new thing about the rental station is that other means of transport are available in addition to electric cars: several e-bikes, a cargo bike, e-scooters or even trolley trailers for the bikes, to name but a few for example to transport purchases.
Borrow e-mobiles with a chip key
The rental technology comes from a company in Bad Hofgastein (Pongau). “With a chip key that the residents received when they moved in, they go to the rental station and rent a vehicle there. You can also reserve a vehicle via the web platform and pick it up a quarter of an hour later,” says Helga Gracher from the Trolleyboy company in Bad Hofgastein.
Residents share a rental station for e-mobiles
The residents of a residential complex in Salzburg-Aigen are the first in the state to share a rental station for various electric vehicles. The rental technology comes from a company from Bad Hofgastein (Pongau).
“It’s all in the choice”
The Bad Hofgastein rental systems are already in operation in a number of residential complexes in Germany. The Salzburg project is the first in the state. Such easily accessible loan options are the future, say the initiators: “It is the combination of both that is unique. In summer, of course, bicycles are more in demand, and cars are certainly well booked all year round. Our experiences from other cities show that,” says Gerd-Ingo Janitschek, from Family of Power E-Carsharing.
Different tariffs, mostly billed per hour
The residents have to register once for the rental platform via the Internet. After that, you can easily hire both bikes and cars: “The residents have a special rate. 50 kilometers per month are free, otherwise you pay 12 cents per kilometer, the hour is 3.84 euros. The e-bikes and shopping trailers cost 50 cents to two euros an hour. These are also manageable tariffs in terms of price,” says Janitschek. In any case, the interest of the residents is already great and will continue to increase, the operators expect.
