Opponents of the Toulouse-Castres motorway parody Don’t Look Up
Opponents of the construction of the A69 motorway between Toulouse and Castres humorously divert the trailer for the film broadcast on Netfilx “Don’t Look Up” to challenge the leaders and once again mark their disagreement.
Use humor to campaign. In the Tarn, opponents of the construction of the A69 motorway, depending from Toulouse to Castres, carried out a hit movie trailer parody Don’t look up of Adam Mckay to present, once again, their arguments.
They have fun in particular to divert the voices of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, who, in the dramatic comedy, tries to challenge the media and politicians about the end of the world.
In a message posted on its Facebook page, the collective “The way is clear», considers this motorway project “useless” and above all “destructive” for the environment. Indeed, the opponents could save this ax ten minutes for motorists, while the promoters claim that the gain amounts to 35 minutes.
“If the Tarn decision-makers refuse to look reality in the face, the citizens will open their eyes to defend responsible land use planning”, continues the collective. As a reminder, this is not the first time that residents have mobilized to oppose the project to build this future highway.
The Toulouse-Castres motorway project
On September 25, while traveling in the Tarn, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced the name of the concessionaire selected for the construction of the future motorway: the New Generations of Entrepreneurs (NGE) group.
As for the schedule: the confirmed project to move forward this year, in particular with the filing of the environmental authorization file, the archaeological excavations, the continuation of technical studies, etc. works to start in early 2023, with commissioning scheduled for the end of 2025.
54 kilometers long, between Castres and Verfeil, the A69 should eventually join the A68. It will have several exits: Verfeil, Villeneuve-lès-Lavaur / Maurens-Scopont, Puylaurens, Soual, Saint-Palais then Castres. The main objective for the Tarn Departmental Council is of open up the southern part of the department, and in particular the economic basin of Castres-Mazamet
