Milan Men’s Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2022: the Etro show
Kean Etro presented his collection for next autumn/winter inside the Bocconi University, in a gigantic hall whose floor was marked with the typical paisley pattern of the house in order to draw the different paths that the models Course during the show. A metaphor for life, representing the journey each of us undertakes and begins to progress as we approach adulthood. We notice books in the pockets, many books, all with different titles, the same ones that Kean Etro chose as an invitation to the fashion show, representing knowledge, the desire for knowledge, but at the same time they are accompanied with the right and the same dose of rebellion, which is also necessary in life.
“When we start our journey, we have a simplified view of the world, then it gets complicated, and we come back to simplicity afterward. This collection is designed for both the first age group and the third age group”, explains Kean Etro a few minutes before the start of the show, “I simplified because at this moment everything is already quite complicated .” Kean Etro also wanted to convey self-esteem to the young protagonists of the show, instilling happy thoughts in them, which is why the linings of the clothes hide all the words. Gioia (joy). In the search for this new simplicity, made of soft and clear lines, Kean Etro does not abandon his poetic touch to which he has always accustomed us: thus the rose is declined like a Latin word on shirts and linings, or is presented in botanical and stylized form as if it were that of the Little Prince printed on the shirts; while the wolf – a species that Etro has been committed to preserving since 2020 with the WWF – is present in inlay or jacquard on the abundance of mesh of the collection, where the polar star also appears, embossed with patterns in crystal on sweaters and coats, almost as if to show the way. Velvet, dressing gowns, kaftans, silk shirts: the early elements are all there and now feature delicate details like straps with the words “Etro C’Est Trop”, or strips of wool worn like a bustier that s hangs at the hips on jackets that look like smoking jackets but here have a zipper.
