In Siena all vaccinations in a protected environment of the ASL
The commitment of the Santa Maria alle Scotte hospital for the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 is growing and strengthening. Starting from Monday 17 January, the Sienese hospital-university company, returning to the availability of the premises located on the ground floor of lot 1 of the hospital (former emergency room area, made available to the Southeast Tuscany Usl Company since 1 September), will be able to administer the vaccination offer and, up to 30 January, will carry out up to 3700 administrations per week divided up in three different vaccination points: about 21000 at the former Emergency Department (related to taking charge of all the doses booked as South East Tuscany Ausl ), about 200 pediatric doses at the pediatric vaccination point located on the 5S floor of lot 4; additional 1400 booster doses at the Blood Transfusion Center located on the ground floor of lot 1.
The Aou Senese will also take charge of all vaccinations in a protected environment already scheduled by the Southeast Tuscany Ausl: this service will be possible thanks to the support of Dr. Marco Saletti, allergist specialist at the Santa Maria alle Scotte hospital and the simultaneous presence of one or more anesthetists. Starting from January 31, all Covid vaccine administrations will then be carried out in a single location, in the former emergency room. The coordination of all activities related to vaccination is entrusted to Dr. Maria Teresa Bianco, head of the Vax Unit and director of the Uoc Farmacia of the Aou Senese.
“The Tuscany Region has also asked the hospital-university companies to commit themselves to increase, alongside the territorial ones, the resources dedicated to the vaccination campaign – explains Antonio Barretta, director general of the Aou Senese -, especially after evaluating the number of citizens waiting to carry out or complete the vaccination cycle in 2022, also in relation to the reduction of the duration of the “green pass” certification from 12 to 9 months and the reduction from 5 to 4 months of the minimum times for the Aou Senese has updated and strengthened the vaccination schedule, with a new important contribution from all the professionals involved, whom I thank “.
Therefore, all the following vaccination activities are carried out simultaneously with the Scotte: administration of the first and second doses to all children in the age group 5-11 years (including fragile and extremely vulnerable children); administration of the booster dose to all young people aged 12-17; administration of the “additional” dose to adolescents aged 12-15 with high frailty motivated by concomitant or pre-existing pathologies and administration of all doses (first, second and booster) to all over 18s.
